"Art is what Western Dressage
is all about. It
is a medium of self-expression through the freedom of pure horsemanship as well as maintaining the integrity of
the western horse/mule."

The Western Dressage Exhibition Division
, now approved
by the Morgan Association through USEF (see Morgan, Western Dressage Rule Book & Western Dressage Tests below), offers
a place for the western rider and horse to participate as individuals and as partners in the discipline of dressage. By using
basic dressage principles, the western rider will find additional training techniques to teach their horse cadence, balance,
self-carriage, and straightness. The use of dressage will help the western horse to work off his rear end allowing for lightness
in the front end.

It is not the goal of the Western Dressage classes to use dressage horses under western
tack. It is the goal of the Western Dressage to maintain the integrity and lightness of the western horse and western
traditions through the use of dressage. This is very important. A western horse moves different than a traditional
dressage techniques add another tool to the training repertoire of western riders.
